Movie matinees
Summer in the Museum continues the program with a matinee party dedicated to
Yugoslav Animated Film in the Museum's Sculpture Park on August 15, from 5.00 to
9.00 p.m.
A rich and diverse program awaits visitors.
Artist, curator and DJ Vladimir Bjeličić has prepared a set of music inspired by Yugoslav
film. In this unique journey through film music, you can expect all, from partisan cheers
from Yugoslav films dedicated to the anti-fascist struggle, through chansons of the
1960s, to existentialist noises and amateur bands of the Yugoslav Black Wave films.
Nikola Topalović, a member of the Museum of Yugoslavia’s student club, will be
selecting the films to be screened at the end of the program. The block of outstanding
works in the field of animated short films will include the 1962 Oscar winner, the film
“The Substitute” by the famous Zagreb School.
In addition to the film and music program, local comic book enthusiasts, collectors, and
sellers will participate in a comic book exchange, allowing the audience to shop and
enjoy exchanging favourite, rare, and new comic book issues.
For the visitors interested in trying their hand at film animation, the famous director
Miloš Tomić will hold a workshop in two sessions – for those from 8 to 12 and for those
over 13, who register in advance. Previous animation experience is not a prerequisite
for the workshop, although it does not hurt. Miloš will vividly explain the basic logic of
the illusion of movement, which will be used throughout the workshop along with
various other art forms. Participants will end the workshop with a series of drawings,
photo collages, stories (probably fictional), several stop-motion miniatures, and a
refreshing, inspiring experience.
