YOUTH DAY AT THE MUSEUM OF YUGOSLAVIA Opening of the Summer in the Museum
The Museum of Yugoslavia invites you to join the opening of the eighth SUMMER IN THE MUSEUM on May 25, 2025. A rich program starts at 5.00 pm in the Museum’s Sculpture Park. Admission is free!
Visitors will be welcomed by members of the self-organised choir and orchestra Horkestra, who will perform a selection of songs from their repertoire and give their own interpretation of the Youth Day.
Then, in the same spirit, DJ Peđa Radović will take the stage with a unique set of tracks that will take us through decades of youth culture and the ways in which it has been musically articulated, with an emphasis on how modern youth uses the musical heritage of Yugoslavia when they seek to express their fighting spirit.
All those who register in time will see the closing performance in the exhibition space of the May 25 Museum. It will be a choreographic installation Holopartisan Woman comprising four human and four holographic dancers inspired by memories of stories and myths about partisan women. The dance performance is a team effort of Andrea Korgačin, Konstantinos Petrović and ČETA, and it is being created and changed with the aim of exploring the relationship between human and digital performers, the relationship of performers to their holograms, the relationship of simulation and simulacrum, and the relationship between the future and our past. The performance starts at 9.00 pm and the number of seats is limited. It is possible to register at a link on the Museum’s website and social networks.
Let us meet to celebrate the Youth Day and remember why it once was “a celebration of the youth of our entire country”. Nowadays it is an occasion to socialise at the Museum of Yugoslavia and give a new meaning to the cultural heritage that we preserve.
For eight years, the team of the Museum of Yugoslavia, consisting of Dušan Jevtić and Sara Sopić, has been successfully implementing the SUMMER IN THE MUSEUM program. The idea is to promote the museum, through various events, as a place for socialising and entertainment, but also to examine how the Yugoslav heritage is interpreted through cooperation with relevant artists from the region. Since the program was launched, we have organised dozens of programs that have attracted thousands of visitors. Register and confirm that summer months are spent in the Museum of Yugoslavia.
