Matinée party Jugoslovenka

Summer in the Museum continues with a Jugoslovenka matinée party in the Museum’s Sculpture Park on June 11, from 5.00 to 9.00 p.m.

For seven years now, the Jugoslovenka party has been attracting Belgrade’s club-goers, with more than 500 events occurring in the last four years, in over 50 clubs across the former Yugoslavia, including several European cities like Oslo, Stockholm, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Malmö, and Gothenburg. This party represents a celebration of great Yugoslav bands and urban music movements, as an intersection of previous and contemporary regional music scenes. Get ready to sing and dance, because the musical selection will include Dino Dvornik, EKV, Haustor, Denis & Denis, Idoli, Zdravko Čolić, Bebi Dol, Partibrejkers, Prljavo Kazalište, Oliver Mandić, Zana, Parni Valjak, Bijelo Dugme, Đavoli, Bajaga, and others.

Behind the DJ booth you will find Duško Milojević, a.k.a. Dulex, a resident of some of Belgrade’s best alternative clubs such as Akademija, Povetarac, Ben Akiba, Pazi Škola, Štrafta, Šlep, and more. He is also known as the organiser of the Vračar Rocks festival at the Cultural Centre Božidarac.

There are countless reasons why this spectacular blend of Yugoslav musical heritage and a great night out should be part of this year’s Summer in the Museum festival.

For the past nine years, the team behind the Museum of Yugoslavia’s programme SUMMER IN THE MUSEUM – Dušan Jevtić and Sara Sopić – have successfully been developing the initiative to affirm the Museum as a place for gathering and entertainment, through a wide range of cultural events. In this sense, the programme allowed for exploring new ways of interpreting Yugoslav heritage in collaboration with relevant artists from across the region. Since the launch of the programme, dozens of concerts and performances have been held, featuring artists who significantly shaped the Yugoslav cultural scene, alongside younger bands that are now leaving their own mark. This kind of support is an important aspect of Yugoslav youth culture, which the Museum seeks to preserve and carry forward.
