Schlager Master and DJ Focus at the Summer in the Museum
The Museum of Yugoslavia invites you to another matinee party on Thursday, August 1, at 5 p.m. in the Sculpture Park, where the DJ duo Schlager Master and Focus will perform, hence continuing the exciting “Summer in the Museum” program. Dušan Zdravković (Schlager Master) and Ivan Andrijaševič (Focus) draw inspiration for their DJ sets from the Adriatic coast festivals of light music and vinyl that shaped the Yugoslav musicscape. Let’s recall the Adriatic coast of the 1950s and 1960s together, and easier cope with this hot summer in Belgrade.
Schlager Master is the stage name of Dušan Zdravković, who plays the music of the period from 1958 to 1968, when Arsen Dedić, Gabi Novak, Tereza Kesovija, Đorđe Marjanović, Lola Novaković and many other musicians got established on the Yugoslav musical scene. Dušan is producer of the radio show “In the rhythm of youth”, which is broadcasted on Radio Aparat. He is known as a passionate collector of vinyl and a member of a small art collective Mahala Bounce, which has been active in promoting Yugoslav pop and youth culture for over 10 years.
Ivan Andrijaševič, alias Focus, will perform alongside Schlager Master on the DJ set. He is known from Ljubljana to Skopje for his original remixes of Yugoslav songs. Last month, he published a compilation called “On my way to Yugoslavia”, which included remixed hits by Duško Gojković, Đorđe Marjanović, Zdranka Kovačiček, Zana, Idoli and others.
For seven years, the team of the Museum of Yugoslavia, consisting of Dušan Jevtić and Sara Sopić, has been successfully implementing the SUMMER IN THE MUSEUM program with the idea of affirming it through various events as a place for socializing and entertainment, but also to test the possibilities of interpreting the Yugoslav heritage through cooperation with relevant artists from the region. Since the launch of the program, there have been dozens of concerts by bands and performances by other artists who have left a deep mark on the Yugoslav scene. In addition, performances of young bands and artists are an important part of the program, as this type of institutional support is the essential aspect of the Yugoslav youth culture that the Museum strives to keep as a legacy.
