Summer in the Museum – Rock Matinee
The Museum of Yugoslavia invites you, on August 28, to another matinee party as part of the Summer in the Museum, which will be dedicated to rock’n’roll and the heritage of the domestic rock scene.
The program begins at 4.00 p.m. with a guided tour through the thematic unit Rock (in) the Museum by the curators of the Museum of Yugoslavia Aleksandra Momčilović Jovanović and Milica Tomić with the giants of the YU rock scene: Miroslav Cvetković Cvele (bassist of the band “Bajaga i instruktori” and one of the founders of the Rock Museum), Ivan Mladenov Vanča (designer of clothes of numerous musicians), Nikola Nešković (journalist and editor of RTS) and Vlada Džet (former bassist of the band “Crni biseri”).
From 5 to 6 p.m., a special jam session will feature the Vlada Džet Band, performing covers of local and international rock hits.
At 7.00 pm, the documentary film “Dreamers” will be screened, about the first female rock’n’roll band in our country. The film chronicles a story of teenage girls from Karaburma who founded a unique band in the 1960s, thereby breaking boundaries and conquering new spaces of freedom in the society.
Simultaneously, from 6.00 to 9.00 p.m., visitors may expect a unique DJ set by DJ IKE, who will revive the spirit of the pioneers of Yugoslav rock’n’roll through a carefully selection of music. As a long-time music selector, author of famous radio shows and a distinguished name at the local club scene, DJ IKE brings an authentic mix that honours the pioneers of local rock history.
Admission is free. See you at the Rock Matinee!
