Last guided tour of the exhibition “Prometheans of the New Century”

Part of the exhibition: PROMETHEANS OF THE NEW CENTURY

We are inviting you to the last guided tour of the exhibition “Prometheans of the New Century”, with the authors of the exhibition Ana Panić and Jovana Nedeljković, and the artist Vladimir Nikolić, which will take place on Saturday, November 6 at 1 p.m.

Vladimir Nikolić’s work “The Communist Image in the Age of Its Digital Reproduction” closes the exhibition “Prometheans of the New Century” on a symbolic level and raises the question of what has happened to Yugoslav modernism, as well as to the values and ideas of non-alignment, anti-colonialism, revolution and solidarity.

Vladimir Nikolić (1974) is one of the most important representatives of the local contemporary art scene. He graduated and received his doctorate from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. His artistic practice is mostly in the field of video-art. As Anica Tucakov points out, by researching the role of the image in modern regimes of visual perception, Nikolić also problematizes the regime of perception itself, that is the image as a historical and cultural construct. He has been a participant in numerous residency programs and has won several awards, including the Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos award (2003) and an award at the 50th October Salon (2009).

The exhibition “Prometheans of the New Century” is inspired by the 60th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade, and its focus is on the relations between Yugoslavia and India in the field of art and culture. It is open until December 14, 2021.
