The new program of the Museum of Yugoslavia:Reading Room in the Museum
The Museum of Yugoslavia, as the major cultural institution in Serbia for Yugoslav heritage and social history, is launching a new literary and forum program Reading Room in the Museum. It will be promoted on April 1, 2023, at 4.00 p.m. in the space of the cafe-souvenir shop located in the Sculpture Park. The first guest of the program will be Vladislav Bajac, author, founder, and editor-in-chief of the publishing house “Geopoetika”. The audience will findout, at the event itself, which titles have been selected for this occasion.
The program is focused on the presentation of publications of contemporary publishers, who will select books and authors, from among their publications, who refer in any way to the concept of Yugoslavia and the historical processes of creation, the use and interpretation of the past from the first manifestations of the Yugoslav idea in the middle of the 19th century, through the period the Kingdom of SHS, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and socialist Yugoslavia, all the way to social, cultural and identity forms that persist even after the disappearance of the SFRY.
After a short lecture, there will be a presentation of literary works related to this topic, followed by a discussion between the publisher and the audience. All the books which will be presented, will be displayed on a separate shelf of the souvenir shop, where the visitors will be able to skim through and buy them. A copy of each presented publication will remain in the collection of the library of the Museum of Yugoslavia, thus refining it and creating a unique, new living collection for readers, which gathers the tastes and viewpoints of independent publishing houses today on the topic.
